Courses offered and Eligibility Criteria by North Eastern Hill University

B.Tech Program: Information Technology /Electronics Communication Engineering / Energy Engineering/ Biomedical Engineering

Eligibility Criteria: (a) Candidates who has passed 10+2 in Science stream or its equivalent from any recognized Board having secured a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical vocational subjects (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates) (b) A candidates must have valid positive JEE (Main) score

B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission

Eligibility Criteria for admission directly into 2nd year/ 3rd year Semester B.Tech Courses:

B.Tech Electronics Communication Engg (ECE): 3 years Diploma in Engg from following disciplines: ECE/ Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Medical Electronics/ Information Technology/ CSE having secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate through a minimum of three years of institutional study after class 10/SSLC exam (or)

B.Sc in Electronics/ Mathematics/Physics having secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution having Mathematics at 10+2 level

B.Tech Information Technology (IT): 3 years Diploma in Engineering in the relevant branch of IT with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution through a minimum of three years of institutional study after class 10/SSLC exam

B.Tech (Energy Engg): 3 years Diploma in Engineering in the relevant branch of Energy Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution through a minimum of three years of institutional study after class 10/SSLC exam

B.Tech (Biomedical Engineering): 3 years Diploma in Engineering in the relevant branch of Biomedical Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution through a minimum of three years of institutional study after class 10/SSLC examination

Dept. of Law - B.A LLB (Hons)

Eligibility Criteria for Law:

a) Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Exam (10+2) or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in aggregate for General and 45% for SC/ST from a recognized University/Board are eligible for admission into this course

b) The maximum age limit is 20 (twenty) years for General candidates and 22 (twenty two) years for a candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC as on 01st August 2015

c) No student shall be allowed to simultaneously register for the course with any other graduate/post graduate/certificate courses run by the university or any other university/institute for academic or professional learning provided that any short period part time certificate course on language, computer science or computer application of an institute or any course run by a Centre for Distance Learning or a university however, shall be accepted

The candidate will have to clear the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Dept on 26th June 2015 from 11.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m

Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch)

Eligibility Criteria: a) Candidates shall be eligible for admission to the first year of the Bachelors’ Degree program in Architecture it he/she has secured a minimum of at least 50% (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate at the Higher Secondary or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Computer Science as subjects of exam at (10+2) level (OR)
10+3 years diploma with a minimum of at least 50% (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate in Architecture/Civil Engineering recognized by the Central/ any State Govt
b) candidates possessing any of the above qualifications must also have a valid National Aptitude Test of Architecture (NATA) score conducted by Council of Architecture

Master of Agri-business Management & Food Technology (MFA)

Eligibility Criteira for MFA: A candidate with 55% marks (relaxable up to 5% for SC/ST candidates) in the aggregate in B.Sc (Life Sciences, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Micro-biology, Bio-chemistry, Food Preservation, Agriculture, Food Technology) or any graduate in Agriculture Science/Technology/ Animal Husbandry, shall only be considered for admission (Eligible candidates need to appear any of the MAT Tests (May, Sept., Dec.-2014 and February 2015)

Candidates who are willing to take admission to Master of Agri-business Management & Food Technology are required to fill up the NEHU application form enclosing their respective MAT Score

Master of Computer Application (MCA)

Eligibility Criteria for MCA: The candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years from a recognized University/Institution having passed in Mathematics at 10+2 level or at graduation having 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates)

Candidates having passed Computer Science or Computer Applications at the degree level will be giving 5% marks

M.Tech Programme in

Eligibility Criteria

Information Technology (IT): A candidates who have passed B.E/B.Tech in IT/CSE/ECE/EE or MCA or M.Sc in Computer Science /Electronics having secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates. GATE qualified candidates will be given preference

Electronic Communication Engg (ECE): A candidate who have passed B.E/B.Tech in ECE/EE or M.Sc in Electronics having secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates)
GATE qualified candidates will be given due weightage

Nanotechnology: A candidates who have passed B.E/B.Tech or equivalent degree in Nanotechnology/Biochemical /Biomedical / Biotechnology/Chemical/Electronics/Energy /Electrical/Mechanical / Metallurgical Engineering having 60% marks or 6.5 credit in 10 points scale and M.Sc in Nanoscience/ Physics / Chemistry/ Material science / Electronics / Biotechnology and allied courses having 60% marks or 6.5 credit in 10 point scale (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates)

GATE qualified candidates will be given appropriate weightage. Students appearing for final year are eligible to apply

Master of Law (LLM)

Eligibility for Law: Candidates must secured 55% (for General candidates) and 50% (for SC/ST candidates in LLB or equivalent exam; the Entrance test will be on 18th August 2015

PhD Programme in:

(i) Information Technology (IT) (ii) Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) (iii) Nanotechnology (iv) Management (v) Law

Eligibility for PhD in Law: Candidates must secured 55% (for General candidates) and 50% (for SC/ST candidates in LL.M; the Entrance Test will be on 13th May 2015

Selection for admission to PhD programme in the above mentioned Depts will be as per rules of the University

How to Apply for NEHU Courses ?

Prospectus with prescribed application forms can be obtained in person from the Receptionist, Administrative Building, Permanent Campus, Shillong-793022 or from the office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, NEHU, Tura Campus, Tura-794002 during office hours on payment of Rs.600/- and Rs.300/- (for SC/ST category) through University Challan or can be downloaded from the University Website http://www.nehu.ac.in  and payment should be through e-challan

The Prospectus/application form fee is not reimbursable

The admission forms may be downloaded from NEHU Website www.nehu.ac.in and filled-in application form along with the copy of e-challan of the same amount can be sent to the respective Head of Departments*, NEHU, Permanent Campus, Mawkynroh-Umshing, Shillong-793022 or NEHU, Tura Campus, Chandmari, Tura-794002

In case of B.Tech Admission, filled-in application form enclosing the e-challan of the same amount can be sent to the Chairman, Central B.Tech Admission Committee, School of Technology, NEHU, Shillong-793022 (Meghalaya)

For B.Tech/M.Tech and for PhD Programmes in Information Technology (IT)/Electronics & Communication Engg (ECE) & Nanotechnology is 12th June 2015

For B.A LLB (Hons) is 12th June 2015

For LLM is 10th August 2015

For PhD in Law is 29th April 2015

Last date for submission of application form for admission to B.Arch has been extended upto 30th June 2015

Application received after the specified date will not be entertained
